4 Helpful Tips for Picking Classes

4 Helpful Tips for Picking Classes Its time for class registration and course selection for Illini. Students are checking out our Course Explorer website and seeing what classes would be interesting to them. When it comes to picking classes, there are some important things to consider. Are You a Morning Person?:  Do you see yourself waking up for your 8 a.m.? If yes, go ahead and sign up for the 8 a.m. lecture to start your day. However, if youre a person that always hits the snooze button, perhaps an 8 a.m. isnt a good idea for you. Theres nothing wrong with having an 11 a.m. or even a 3 p.m. class Know Your Out of Class Activity Schedule:  Are you in a club that meets two to three times a week for two hours? Are you on a club sport team that has to travel? Accomodate your RSO activity into your class registration, so you dont overwhelm yourself with work. Double and Triple Dip Your Gen-Eds:  When completing a gen-ed, I advise taking a class that counts for more than one of the requirements. Take a class that counts as a Behaviorial Science and a Non-Western if you can. There are multiple classes such as World Religions where you can even triple dip where it counts for three gen-ed requirements. Woudnt you rather take one class than three separate classes for the same requirements? Dont Forget About Your Major:  Theres a ton of fun classes you can take here at Illinois, but also remember that you need to complete classes for your major! Remember your major is why youre here and what you will graduate with at the end of your four years at Illinois. If you follow these tips, youll be off to a great start to your spring semester! Daniel Class of 2018 I’m an Advertising major in the College of Media. I’m from a northwest suburb of Chicago called Buffalo Grove. I chose Illinois because it was the first university in the entire world to offer an Advertising major, which is pretty cool!
